CONTACT IMPROVISATION
Contact Improvisation is an exciting, playful, contemporary dancing form. Through a shared point of physical contact, partners experience a spontaneous dance of rolling, spiraling, falling, giving and supporting weight, being off-center, lifting with ease. They find ways to "enjoy the ride" and improvise while mutually supporting and following each others movements. The dancing is unpredictable and inspired by the physical and energetic contact the partners share. Most often the dance is without music. Duets are common, but solos and small groups often mix in. Contact Improv is free of gender roles. Instructor studied dance at San Francisco State University and Mills College, has taught dance nationwide, and performed in the Closing Ceremony of the Athens 2004 Olympics.
This class is geared for the beginner. No prior dance or movement experience necessary. New classes being planned, contact for details.
YOUR DOG'S NOT JUST A MOTION DETECTOR THAT BARKS
This is a class for humans! Learn the really fun and playful "training game." Based on clicker training principles developed by Karen Pryor, this makes a fun game to play at parties. Through creative paticipatory exercises you'll learn to use positive reinforcement to shape behavior, and gain insight into how your pet learns. Recommended reading is "Don't Shoot the Dog!" by Karen Pryor. Instructor received certification at 2007 Cleveland ClickerExpo (video).
Class is sponsored by Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana, ARF.
